Letter from our President
May 4th, 2017
HiDHA Members…our third show for the 2017 season is fast approaching this weekend May 7th! We have awesome Judge’s Stacie Wight & Debbie Luna, great prizes, a willing to please staff and great food for the day! We have an English Saddle pad and set of spurs to raffle at the May show, all proceeds go directly into the prize fund, so every dollar you donate will then be applied to the year-end prizes, it is a win, win for all those participating! I look forward to seeing you all there for a fun filled afternoon of showing.
I do hope the weather holds out and it doesn’t get cancelled due to rain. We will do our best to notify you through the Website, Facebook or call Kim Estrada at (818) 497-4730 for up to the minute updates! If you pre-enter Kim will call each person directly so you don’t waste the drive showing up and the gates are locked, nothing worse than that! If you pre-enter don’t worry you won’t be charged if we call off the show due to rain, so get those entries faxed or emailed to Kim Estrada!
How does HiDHA enact a Rain Date. If the show grounds & arena are dry on Saturday or any time before 6am to 8am on Sunday, the show will start as planned. Once the show has started there is no stopping the show unless the show Office Manager, the Judge & your Board of Directors deems it is unsafe to continue. The weather is unpredictable at best in the Antelope Valley and we will do are very best to inform you should the show get cancelled prior to your arrival!
The Board had a discussion about the Sponsor Banners that were hung on the back side of the arena fencing and with safety in mind we will affix plywood to the back arena fencing prior to hanging the banners. We are hoping this eliminates any billowing or rustling should the wind start blowing. My suggestion is to get there early to lunge your equine close to them so they are not spooky during class. I hope you enjoy looking at them far better than the neighborhood trash!
As I mentioned above thanking our sponsors. Please visit our Website Sponsor page and mention to them you saw them on the HiDHA Website and appreciate all they do to keep us offering great prizes and all those Year-End Prizes too! Without generous sponsorship our shows would not be as successful and our prizes would be far less than they are now…they really do appreciate hearing from you the members!
Also, we have been working with world renowned trainer Bill Cameron and he would like to host a clinic for the English side HiDHA. You will be able to bring your horse and school or simply observe and learn from the audience. I will let you know the date, format and cost as we work on this at the next Board Meeting.
Our Board of Directors meets once a month to better serve each show. You are welcome to attend any Open Board Meeting the first Thursday of every month starting at 6:30pm, currently we have been having them at Greenhouse Café’ in Lancaster off of Ave. K.
I would like to wish everyone continuing success this Show Season and much success in the future. Please be safe and I look forward to seeing everyone in the near future…
